Obituary
It is with heavy hearts the family of Marie Mai (Gagnon) Connolly announces her peaceful passing which occurred on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Loch Lomond Village, with her family by her side. Born in Grand Falls, NB on May 3, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Remuald and Marthe (LeBelle) Gagnon. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Leonard Connolly, son Richard Connolly, brother Armand Gagnon; sisters Noella Gagnon, Theresa Mason, Nelda Cyr, Bernadette Roy, Anne Gunhouse and Patricia Spears.
Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved spending time with family and was lovingly known as Mum-Mum, Gram-Gram and great Grammy by the ones she loved the most. Marie enjoyed the outdoors, she loved hunting, gardening and landscaping. She also loved working in the woodshop and doing renovations, no matter what she was doing she always had a smile on her face.
She is survived by her sons Bruce Connolly (Candace), Edward “Ted” Connolly (Susan); daughters Deborah Connors (Randy) and Lynn Memory (Scott); daughter-in-law Beth; brother John Gagnon; cherished grandchildren Danielle, Troy, Scott, Ryan, Adam, Emily, Sarah and Matthew; great grandchildren Kaelan, Bryson, Xavier, Oceana, Cameron, Brayden, Benjamin and Anastasia along with several nieces and nephews.
We would like to mention a special thank you to Marie’s second family of the last year and a half, the staff of Cedar House, who treated Marie like their own mother and couldn’t have been more caring and loving, especially in the last few days and weeks. THANK YOU.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from the hours of 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Marie may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, New Brunswick Lung Association or to the Loch Lomond Village.
Due to COVID-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings, all those 12 and older attending visitation and service will be required to wear masks, show proof of vaccination and a piece of government issued ID.
