Marguerite Susan Tanner, 90 of Heckman’s Island, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater surrounded by loving members of her family.
Born in First Peninsula, on February 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Stewart and Alexie (Langille) Zinck.
Marguerite worked different administration jobs with Powers Brothers, The Foundry, Progress Enterprise and a travel agency. She loved to read, garden, paint and play music. She played the organ for several different congregations. Her favourite past time was to spend time with her family. She was fun loving and witty right into her 90th year.
Marguerite is survived by her children: daughters, Charlene (Granville) Veinotte, Heckman’s Island; Darlene Broome (Stewart Collie), Heckman’s Island; sons, Danny (Val) Tanner, Fives Houses and William (Cheryl Conrad), Heckman’s Island, 6 grandchildren, Christa, Candice, Chrystal, Brandi, Matthew and David and 10 great grandchildren; Twyzum, Eli, Jayden, Simon, Noah, Brody, Sophie, Bruce, Khylei, Colt and Lakin; sister, Barbara (Bob) Smith, Ontario and several nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was predeceased by the love of her life, William (Billy). The family feels that since their mother passed away on Father’s Day, he was given the best gift he could receive, their mother. She was also predeceased by her precious granddaughter, Olive Moore, brother, Aubrey Zinck, her sisters-in-law, Lorine Sylvester and Thelma Snyder and brothers-in-law, Hector Tanner and Philip Tanner and nephew, Aubrey Zinck Jr.
A service for family only will be held on Saturday at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, Rev. Steven Hiltz, officiating. Interment will be at the Heckman’s Island Cemetery, Heckman’s Island.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital, The Special Olympics or to the Heckman’s Island Cemetery.
