Maj-Britt’s Obituary
It is with sadness that the family of the late Maj-Britt Oneschuk announces her passing at the Preeceville & District Long Term Care Centre on July 13, 2021. Maj-Britt passed away a little over a month after her 90th birthday.
Maj-Britt was born in Hyas, Saskatchewan on June 8, 1931, and lived there until the age of 7, when her family relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba. In Winnipeg, Maj-Britt attended school, which she loved, and her favorite subjects were French and Latin. Maj-Britt married her sweetheart, Metro, on June 9, 1951. Together, they farmed and raised a beautiful family on the family farm in Hyas, Saskatchewan.
Maj-Britt was well known for her canning, beautiful garden, and amazing green thumb. She fiercely loved her three children, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, their spouses, and all the dear family that came into her world through her marriage to her husband. Maj-Britt could often be found hosting many family gatherings, where family and good food were the focus. All those who she loved will miss her greatly.
Maj-Britt was predeceased by her loving husband, Metro Oneschuk; her parents, Henning and Marta Wendel; and son, Stephan Oneschuk.
She is survived by two children, son, Warren (Laura) Oneschuk and daughter, Ruth Landin; daughter-in-law, Rhonda (Stephan) Oneschuk; sister, Anna Wendel; and her grandchildren: Rheya (Brent) Buller, Elizabeth (Daniel) Robertson, Rebekah (Brad) Hurst, Keaton Smylski and Regan Landin. She leaves behind six great grandchildren who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly, Emmeline, William and Juliette Robertson, Alexander and Avalon Hurst, and Brynlee Buller.
A Funeral Service will be held and live streamed at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 19, 2021, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, Saskatchewan, with Danny Robertson officiating. Interment followed in the Canora Cemetery, Canora, Saskatchewan. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Maj-Britt Oneschuk.
