Madison Alexis Maddie Connors 19962021

Madison Alexis « Maddie » Connors
1996-2021
Madison Alexis « Maddie » Connors – age 25, of Lake
George, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 in South Greenwood.
Born in Kentville, she was the daughter of Monica (Lohnes) and Michael
« Mike » Connors, Lake George. Maddie had a kind heart, and a
beautiful soul, and was loved by many. She loved her family fiercely –
in fact, she was one of the blessed ones, as she counted members of
her family among her closest friends.
She would do anything for her little brother, Mackie, which
much to his dismay, also meant spending far too much time over the
years dressing him up in questionable outfits. However, much to his
satisfaction, it also meant teaching him to swear. Her cat Tobi was
her baby, and we will all remember our invitation to Tobi the cat’s
first birthday party, as well as the jokes she posted on social media
implying that grandkittens would be her preferred offering to her
parents over the human version. That said, she loved her children at
the Just Right Childcare daycare where she worked.
In addition to incessantly dressing her brother up in various
attire, sadly for him but happily for us, she always had a camera in
hand to capture their many, many escapades. In her teen years, you
would more than likely find Maddie in the music booth at Mackie and
his friends’ hockey games — always with that famous sweet
Maddie-smile. She was first in line to paint her face to show support
at any one of their countless hockey games and was always their
biggest fan. She loved Mackie and his friends and would do anything
for them, which meant the ultimate cool big sister thing —
letting them throw parties at her place. She had many friends that
were there for her throughout the years, and she enjoyed spending time
with them at the shore. You all meant a lot to her.
Throughout Maddie’s beautifully rich and much-loved life she
spent many happy years at her grandparents’ cottage on Lake George.
She was very close to Nanny and Gucky and she was steadfast in her
belief that coffee was too a full breakfast, despite what her Nanny
might think. Maddie would often say that Gucky was her best friend,
and we are sure they are hanging out together now making some insanely
funny jokes. (Or at least jokes that the two of them find insanely
funny. They shared the same definition of what qualifies as
« funny ».)
We will miss her sweet voice on the phone as we received her
daily call « just saying hi » or asking « what’s for
supper tonight? » (because, let’s be honest, her cooking skills
were somewhat lacking). We will also miss her daily stop at the house
to steal treats out of mom and dad’s treat drawer, in particular her
love for pretzels and all-dressed party mix.
She was a true friend to many and touched people with that
rarest of quality – a kind and compassionate heart. We love you Maddie
and will miss you forever.
In memory of Maddie, we ask you to hug a cat today. If that’s
not your thing, then enjoy a handful of pretzels – even tastier if
snuck from a treat drawer. And whenever you hear the sound of rain
during a storm, an absolute favourite of Maddie’s, we ask that you
pause to remember Maddie and her sweet, lovable kindness. We believe
she is with us in all of these moments.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her brother,
Mackenzie « Mackie » and maternal grandmother, Sharon Lohnes,
all of Lake George; aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and many
friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Eugene
Lohnes (aka: Gucky) and paternal grandparents, Frank and Joan Connors.
Cremation has taken place and due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions,
there will be no visitation or service at this time. Donations in
memory may be made to Inuvialuit Education Foundation IEF.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville. Online condolences and inquiries may be
