Lois Fern Bulloch Hawkins Thursday November 4th 2021

Lois Fern Bulloch (nee Hawkins)
May 17, 1925 to Nov 4, 2021
With her family at her side, Lois (May 17, 1925-Nov 4, 2021) passed away peacefully at HSN. Lois is the daughter of Percy and Gladys Hawkins (predeceased) and the wife of James Bulloch (predeceased). She is survived by her daughter Anne (John Fraser), grandchildren Lee (Cara Rinaldi), Christy (Mike McPhail), and great-grandsons Alex, Andrew and Adam Fraser. She was predeceased by her brother Ross, sisters in law Sheila and Bertha; brothers in law Malcolm and Kendrick. She was loved by niece Pam, and nephews James, Gord, Pat and Paul.
Lois graduated from Sudbury Business College working for many years at The Bank of Toronto and in several other jobs, as she noted, always in the world of numbers.
Lois was beloved by many friends, especially the folks at All Peoples United Church. She was an active member there for many years as a UCW member, serving on the church council and as Presbytery representative. In her recent years, she was active at the Westmount Retirement Residence where she lived for the last fourteen years, participating in many of the activities there. Not just a resident, but family. Lois was grateful for the care and compassion extended to her by the staff and considered them not only caregivers but friends.
In recent days although her body was failing, her mind was clear and strong. She reminisced about what could only be described as her joyful adventure called life. She told us stories about her cousins and family during her childhood in Wolseley, Saskatchewan and the adventure of moving east to Sudbury in 1937, growing up in Minnow Lake.
Lois and Jim had a love for travel, journeying to many areas of the world. It always amazed us how efficiently they could pack a single suitcase for a month of travel. She told us she regrets being unable to make her planned trip to space and become the oldest space traveller. She enjoyed her time at their camp on Frenchman’s lake, where she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and friends. Lois was content with her decision to not live in pain and suffering and knew the comfort and peace that came with her decision.
Lois so loved her daughter, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren, always keenly interested in their lives and many accomplishments which gave so much pride to her life for all they have become.
Granddaughter Christy said it best in a shared a message she wrote while travelling home to be with Lois, that expresses the family’s thoughts very succinctly. «In the car on the way home to Sudbury, a trip full of emotions. One last visit with this brave strong lady. We will be devastated by her loss. She has lived through many challenges, always coming out stronger on the other side, living by her rules, living life by her choices. She has taught me so much, loved me so much and is always on my side. Now it is my turn to be by her side. We will spend the next few days talking, laughing and celebrating you, making memories that will last us a lifetime and get us through the tougher days ahead, Love you, Grandma.»
At Lois request there will be no visitation or funeral at this time. A private family memorial is planned to be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home, www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
