Passed away peacefully at her home in Newmarket on Thursday, August 5th, 2021, at 60 years of age.
Loving wife of the late Jeffrey Schaefer. Beloved mother of Patrick Madder (Stevie) and stepmother to Andrew Schaefer (Jill), Kristin Schaefer (Jonny), Justin Madder (Stephanie) and Dana Dixon (Tom).
Proud Nana of Dylan Madder and Beckham Madder.
Dear daughter of the late Clarence Harry Zinkel and Jane Leone Zinkel.
Lisa loved to read, garden and cook. She will be sorely missed by Oscar, her loving and loyal furry companion.
The family will be honoring Lisa in a private setting.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society.
She Let Herself Go
She let herself go, they say.
How wrong they are, how little they know.
She simply stopped fighting time,
stopped fighting nature
and ceased being a slave,
to the unreachable dictations of society,
just briefly.
She focused instead on the real things,
pressed for her attention.
She let herself in.
She let herself rest.
She let herself be.
She let herself out.
At no point did she let herself go, my friend.
Quite the opposite.
If only they could see it.
