Obituary
With sadness but appreciation for a long life, well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Lillian Gertrude (Bennett) Fraser on December 2, 2021 at Shannex, Embassy Hall Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was born in Dryden, ON on October 5, 1930 to the late Cedric and Evelyn (Robertson) Bennett, and was the loving wife of 45 years to her late husband, Daryl Fraser.
Lillian grew up in West Saint John, graduating from Saint John High School in 1948. She then went on to graduate from the Teacher’s College in Fredericton and taught at her first school, the Mispec Schoolhouse. She moved around a bit and taught in Quebec and Ontario before moving back to Saint John to raise her three children with her husband. Lillian was strong in her faith and growing up attended St. Jude’s Church, but later becoming a member of St. James Anglican Church (Fundy and the Lakes) for many years. She served on many groups there and helped with the Ladies Guild dinners and events. Lillian loved being a teacher, so later in her life, after raising her children, she went back to teaching as a supply teacher at Holy Trinity and Lakewood Heights schools.
She is survived by her sons, Murray (Susan) and John (Yvonne); grandchildren, Corey, Jennifer, Danielle, Evan, Alyson and Megan; great grandsons, Camden and Reece; brother, Russell (Myrna) of N.S; sister, Margaret Bennett and sister-in-law, Kay Bennett, both of Ontario; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Daryl; daughter, Margaret Colborne; sister, Kathy Fraser and her brother, Gordon “Busher” Bennett.
Her family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Embassy Hall in Quispamsis for the care given to their mom.
