Leon was born on May 5, 1928 in Deloraine, MB. He grew up on a farm with three sisters and three brothers. Dad and Mom were married on May 16, 1953. They moved 13 times before residing in Dominion City, where dad became the new Co-op manager. Dad enjoyed farming outside of Dominion City, where he raised four daughters. Dad also worked as a manager at Simplot in Letellier for 16 years. In 1986 he retired from Simplot Soilbuilders at the age of 55. He farmed for 11 years until he retired to Dominion City. He was also a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church in Emerson.
Leon lived an active life and love to working in his yard. His true passion was his vegetable garden that he shared with his family and friends. Dad was a handyman, a jack of all trades. He could fix almost everything around the house. He also enjoyed golfing, watching hockey and curling on TV, and in the evening he loved to spend time on his word search booklets. He especially loved his outdoor activities, fishing, hunting and camping with family. Dad enjoyed travelling with Mom to Yuma to spend a couple of months in the winter with family & friends. He took pride and joy in watching his grandchildren & great grandchildren participating in different activities. Dad was an outgoing and caring person who loved to share his views and ideas with his friends up at the coffee shop and at the Queens Hotel. Dad enjoyed family gatherings and always put his family first.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and nurses who took exceptional care of Dad in the Emerson Personal Care Home.
We love you Dad, and we will miss you very much.
A private family funeral service will be held with interment at the Dominion City Cemetery.
