Obituary of Lawrence MacLeod, New Waterford
It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lawrence MacLeod, 90, on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Waterford Heights, New Waterford.
Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late Anthony ‘Tony’ and Alice (MacQuarrie) MacLeod.
In earlier years, Lawrence coached little league baseball in Vancouver. Known to many as a social butterfly, he enjoyed golfing, playing darts, and dancing at the New Waterford Pensioners’ Club. He found great peace in being outdoors, especially when he was close to the water. Lawrence was also an animal lover and was very fond of his late dog, Maggie.
Surviving are his companion, Edith Finlayson; brother, Leo MacLeod; sister, Kay Johnson; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Lawrence was predeceased by his wife, Florence (McNeil); brothers, Earl, Dougie and John; sisters, Betty, Alice and Margie.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, New Waterford, with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, River Ryan. Donations in his memory may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA, Cape Breton Shelter.
