Laura’s Obituary
GEHUE, Laura Madeline ~ age 88 of Lawrencetown, NS passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2021 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Lawrencetown, NS she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Laura (Slauenwhite) Whitman. Laura worked many places as a young woman including the Coop in Lawrencetown and Gene Merry’s Drug and Varity Store. She also worked with Clyde in his business Gehue’s Monument Works with lettering on the tombstones before going back to the drugstore for many years after becoming Lawrencetown Pharmacy. She enjoyed long walks with her friends. She also enjoyed knitting and embroidery later in life. She loved her many grand and great grandchildren and loved to have them visit. Laura is survived by her daughter, Susan (Ralph) Vibert, Lawrencetown; son, Peter Walker (Paulette), Trout Lake; brother Frank; grandchildren, Jody Sabean, Lawrencetown; Teena Sabean, Lawrencetown; Angela Hathaway, Spa Springs; Peter Clyde Walker, Oromocto, NB; Mary Laura MacDonald, PEI; great grandchildren, Cody, Sydney, Paige, Wesley, Katie, and Kera; and great great grandchildren, Kael, Kannon and Serenity, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Clyde Gehue; sisters Thelma Callicott, Myrna Whitman, Barbara Roscoe, Sylvia Wood, and Geneva Wood; brothers Harland Whitman, Douglas (in infancy) and Charles Whitman. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A service will be held at a later date when we can all be together again. Donations in Laura’s memory may be made to the Lawrencetown United Baptist Church or Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation.
