Karen Louise Campbell 19582021

Karen Louise Campbell
1958-2021
It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing
of Karen Louise Campbell of Blacks Harbour, NB, which occurred at the
Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on September 19, 2021. Born
in Digby, NS, May 11, 1958, she was the daughter of Roland (Rollie)
Campbell and the late Muriel (Leeman) Campbell. Karen is survived by
her father Roland Campbell, three sisters: Bonnie (Billy) Moran of
Prospect Bay, NS, Andrea (Brian) Hawkins of Beaver Harbour, NB and
Patricia (Mark) Craig of Caithness, NB, niece, Jessica Hawkins,
nephews, Brandon Hawkins, Nic Moran, Nathan Moran and Colby Craig,
great-nieces/nephews, Paige and Sophia Hawkins, Jayden Hubley and
Grayson Moran and Special Friend and Caregiver, Heather
Hooper.
Karen worked for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for 30+
years as an Administrative Clerk, retiring last year.
Karen’s resiliency and determination brought her through many
challenges in her life. She fought for her place in this world.
Starting school later in age, Karen pushed through a couple grades at
a time to «catch up». After St. George High School she tried
university but found the night life was more to her liking than the
actual courses, so switched gears from Saint Thomas to St Andrew’s
Community College.
Trying to capture the essence of Karen, it’s hard to know
where to begin…a pioneer in so many areas, Karen made her presence
know. She demanded to be treated as an equal…it did not matter that
she was in a wheelchair, her brain and mouth worked just fine. She was
very quick to point out deficiencies with accessibility, unfair
treatment by others or just a general opinion…she had no problem
expressing herself.
Karen was extremely close to her family, checking in daily
with at least one, if not all members and vice versa. She had a great
love of music, her favorite country tunes always playing in the
background. She enjoyed playing Bingo and games on her computer but
most she enjoyed spending her time with her special pets – Logan her
Maltese dog, Teako her Quaker Parrot and Charlie her
Cockatiel.
In keeping with Karen’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be held Friday, September 24 at 2 PM at the
Pennfield Rural Cemetery, Pennfield, NB.
In Karen’s memory, donations to the NB Lung Association or to
a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the
family.
