Obituary of Joseph J. O’Rourke
Joseph J. O’Rourke Age 68 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday June 2, 2021. He was born on September 8, 1952 in Hornell, NY the son of the late Thomas Robert and Helen Gertrude Crosby O’Rourke. Joseph was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving his country with the U.S. Army. Joe married his wife Mary Frances Rossi on August 25, 1979 and would have celebrated their 42nd Wedding Anniversary this year. He was a retired Diesel Mechanic for Corning Inc. Joe was also pre-deceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Daniel J. and Pauline L. Rossi. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Joe was a member of the Montour Moose Club, Horseheads Elks Lodge #2297, and the Seneca Sportsmen Club. Joseph loved his grandchildren and they could do no wrong in his eyes. Joe was a man who would give anything to anyone because of his generosity and kindness and cherished his many friendships. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Mary F. O’Rourke ; son: Brett J. O’Rourke of Big Flats, NY; daughter and son-in-law: Janelle and Nicholas A. Muccigrosso of Corning, NY; grandchildren: Brody J. O’Rourke, Boone M. O’Rourke, Dominic A. Muccigrosso, and Gianna P. Muccigrosso ; sisters and brother-in-law: Dr. Mary K. O’Rourke of Tuscon, AZ; Karen Ann Shoun of Tuscon, AZ; Terri T. O’Rourke of Horseheads, NY; Bridgid C. and Kenneth Tronetti of Campbell, NY; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Daniel J. and Diane Rossi of Elmira, NY and David and Barbara Rossi of Elmira, NY; many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Monday June 7, 2021 from 4-7 PM. Officers and Members of the Horseheads Elks Lodge #2297 will conduct a Memorial Service for their departed brother at the conclusion of calling hours at 7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday June 8, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Church in Elmira, NY at 10:30 AM. Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. O’Rourke following Mass.
