The death of Joseph “Peter” McCafferty husband of Elizabeth “Gail” McCafferty of Esgenoôpetitj, NB, occurred on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the age of 45. Born in Chatham, NB, he is the son of Terry Vickery and Elizabeth “Betty” McCafferty. Peter was a miner who worked for Newmont Gold Mine. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, snowmobiling and driving his motorcycle.
Besides his wife and parents, Peter is survived by: daughters: Tatum Joe (Michael Willis) of Esgenoôpetitj, NB; Leanne Joe (Guillaume Breault) of Neguac, NB; Sara and Emily McCafferty both of Esgenoôpetitj, NB; paternal grandmother: Mary Furguson of Saint John, NB; brothers: Geoffrey Vickery of Miramichi, NB; Jason McCafferty (Krystal Vienneau) of Fredericton, NB; mother-in-law: Jennifer Diana Ward; sisters-in-law: Dale Ward (Terrance Paul) and Joyce Ward; brothers-in-law: Randy and Rodney Joe; aunts and uncles: Barbara McCafferty, Boyd McCafferty (Bernadette), John McCafferty, Vicky McLean (Wayne), John Vickery (Nancy), Marilyn Briggs (Jamie), Kevin Vickery (Theresa); Tammy Richard (Anthony); Angie Vickery, Patsy McAllister (Allen); Shawn Vickery (Pam); niece: Aaliyah Vickery; grand fur baby: Benino; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Peter is predeceased by: paternal grandfather: Willard Vickery and maternal grandparents: Arthur and Anne Marie McCafferty; father-in-law: William Ward and uncle: Landon Vickery (Sarah).
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on June 11, 2021 from 4-8 PM. A PRIVATE Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Chatham Head on June 12, 2021 with Father John Keoughan officiating.
Please note: Mandatory Masks and Social Distancing Protocols will be followed at the funeral home and the Church.
