Obituary
Joseph Kevin Paul Mathieu
June 10, 1941 – November 23, 2021
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joseph Kevin Paul Mathieu at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Gwen; children, Chris (Judy-Dee), Dawn (Ron) Lugowski, Robin (Darrell) Triffo, Jodi (Dennis) Inglis, Lesley (Chris) George, Kevin (Charlotte), Terryl (Peter) Crombie, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Tutt and Gwenda Adamson, and nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Andrew Triffo; mother and father, Elizabeth and Dominique; step-father, Art Knievel; brother, Don; and sisters, Thelma Michaud and Marie Kostelac.
Family was important to Joe. He was proud of his children and grandchildren’s many accomplishments and enjoyed watching them participate in many sports such as swimming, hockey, and baseball. He was a keen golfer and fisherman. Joe worked in the oil business for over forty years, starting out as a lease hand and working his way up to V.P. of International Drilling Operations. Throughout his career, he worked in over twenty countries. After he retired from the oilfield, he focused on farming, enjoying the quieter pace of raising cattle and working with his family.
To reduce the numbers for the current restrictions, a drop-in visitation at Baker Funeral Chapel will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 between 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wetaskiwin Mission Church on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 2:30 p.m.
Donations are gratefully accepted in Joe’s memory to Wetaskiwin Mission Church, University Hospital Foundation – Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, or a charity of your choice.
