Obituary for
Joseph «Joe» William Greenwood
Greenwood, Joseph William – Age 85, Stewiacke. It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and brother-in-law on June 10, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with his loving wife, Marie, by his side.
Joe loved his family to the fullest and was always there to help anyone in need. At a very young age, he spent a short time in the army, but was self-employed most of his life, raising and moving houses most notably, the Stanfield house in Truro. Like his mother, he was an avid bingo player and also loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors cutting and splitting his own wood. He could hardly wait for summer so he could pick his own strawberries and blueberries and enjoy his homemade jam and pies.
Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie; sons, Tom (Beverly), Stewiacke, Darren (Kim), Halifax; daughters, Dorothy, Williamswood, Anne (Brian), Stewiacke, Sally (Robert), Truro; grandchildren, Shawn (Heather), Harold, Candice, Joseph, Laura, Colten, Chandler, Amanda and Samantha; half-brother, Danny Fleet; half-sisters, Diane Fleet and Nancy Porter as well as many great grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Helen (Smith) Greenwood; son, Joey; great granddaughter, Sierra; brothers, Robert, Patrick and Basil and sister, Rowena for whom he had a special place in his heart. Also predeceased by his special friend, Herbert Keddy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. By his request, there will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
