With heavy hearts we say farewell to our hero,
John Wayne Simpson – 68, of Centreville, Kings County, NS.
On the evening of October 29, 2021, after a long fight, he passed away
peacefully with his wife by his side at the Valley Hospice, Kentville.
Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Wallace and Hazel (Lacey)
Simpson.
He is survived by the love of his life, Joy
(Sheffield), of 49 years; daughters, Michelle (Bob) Davies, Ottawa;
Shannon Simpson, Calgary; Crystal (Brian) Saunders, Kentville;
grandchildren, Brayden, Kaitlin, Kayleigh and Owain; sisters, Linda
(Bob) Brown, Billtown; Helen (Gary) Brown and Joyce (Mike) Brewster,
all of Centreville; brothers, Leslie, Calgary; Bill (Kay), Kentville
and Curtis (Elizabeth), Billtown; many nieces, nephews, wonderful
friends and his dearly loved mother-in-law, Minnie
Sheffield. He was predeceased by two sisters-in-law,
Jeanette (Silver) Simpson and Nina (Patterson)
Simpson.
Working as a trucker for most of his life, he
returned home to his family every night. If not working, he was found
tinkering with his tractor and cars, working in the yard and cutting
wood. He loved being outside, most often with no shirt on, no matter
what the temperature. Beads of sweat on his forehead were removed with
a handkerchief and a shot of black as he would call his
Pepsi.
Known to those who loved him as Yippy, Johnny
Boy, Dad, Gramps, Pappy, and friend. He always had a soft spot for his
animals. He loved, and dearly missed, his pets, Sylvester, Max and
Coraline. As well as his grand pets, Cali, Rocky and Caramel who had
gone before him. They are getting lots of treats from Pappy now.
So many memories, our hearts are flooded with
the love he shared with us all. Our family could never have been more
grateful to have such a hero in our lives. Words will never express
how greatly you will be missed. You are at peace now and dancing to
Charlie Pride with Grammie. Give her a kiss from us.

There will be no visitation. The funeral
service will be held on December 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Kingsway
Pentecostal Assembly, Kentville, Reverend Terry Penney and Reverend
Bob Davies officiating. The family wishes to express their sincere
appreciation to the Palliative care team, VON, doctors, nurses and
staff of the Valley Regional Hospital and Valley Hospice for their
care, kindness and compassion. Donations in memory may be made to the
Valley Hospice. Funeral arrangements have
been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville. Online condolences and inquiries may be directed

In accordance with the Nova Scotia Proof of Full Vaccination Policy,
proof of full vaccination will be required to attend public
visitations, services and receptions held in or by the White Family
Funeral Home.
