It is with saddened hearts that the family announces the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. John passed away on Wednesday December 15th, 2021, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital at the age of 77.
John is predeceased by his infant son; parents George and Florence; parents-in-law Tom and Clara Clarke; brothers France, Alex, and Ed (Ruby); and sisters Rita (Warren) Babb and Agnes (Michael) Birmingham.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 55 years Theresa; daughter Jackie (David); sons John (Lisa), Tommy (Michelle) and Pat (Richelle); grandchildren Matthew (Brenda), Janelle, Shane, Devin, Travis, Shauna, Amy and Joey (Hailee); great-grandchildren Adalynn and Ellee; and special family friends Rhonda St. John, Harold Moore, and Gerald Edney.
John also leaves to mourn his brothers Gerald (Zita) – his Best Friend, Eugene (Gail), Bernie (Tillie – deceased); sisters Marie (Kevin) Walsh, Madeline, Eileen (Dennis – deceased) English; as well as many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
He is also leaving all the staff of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital 7 West, who have for the last six months been amazing to John and our family. You loved him like your own. He loved you all as well.
Johnny worked at National Sea Products until the Cod Moratorium. Originally from the Goulds, he lived in Petty Harbour – Maddox Cove, where he loved to fish, hunt, and spend time outdoors with friends and family. He will be remembered as a quiet, funny, gentle, and hardworking man, who was loved and respected by all who had the pleasure to know him. He was an amazing, wonderful husband and father.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, on Saturday December 18, 2021, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with Funeral Service immediately to follow at 2 p.m. in Caul’s Chapel.
Rest in peace Pop, until we meet again.
