Joan Rhoda Steeves 19342021

Joan Rhoda Steeves
1934-2021
Joan Steeves (Milton), 86 went to be with her Lord and
Saviour on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 at The
Moncton Hospital. Born in Minto, NB she was the daughter of
the late Delbert and Elsie (McCoubrey) Milton.
Joan moved as a young child to Edgetts Landing in 1942 where
she attended school in the small Edgett’s Landing
schoolhouse. She and her family moved to Hillsborough in
1954. She went to work at Eatons where she met many lifelong
friends. She met Bob, the love of her life and married him
at the Hillsborough Baptist Church on August 6, 1960. She
was an active volunteer in the church where she was a Sunday School
teacher, a Youth group leader and served on many committees throughout
the years. She was blessed with the gift of hospitality and
made lots of delicious casseroles for the many pot luck suppers they
attended at the church. She became a stay at home mother to
her three children. She was very talented and sewed many
home made outfits for all her children and baked many elaborate cakes
for special occasions.
Joan and Bob both enjoyed bowling and bowled in many leagues
throughout the years. She had many bowling trophies which
she was very proud of. She was an avid yard sale lover and
didn’t miss a Saturday with her friends. She and
Bob also enjoyed travelling to Florida in their retired years with
their family and friends. She was also able to take several
trips with her daughters which they will always cherish. She
and Bob also enjoyed playing UNO with their good friends every
Saturday night for many years. In her last years, she and
Bob moved into Riverview to Lakeview Towers.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 60 years,
Robert Archie Steeves, her cherished children Janice (Timothy) Worden,
Dawn (Andrew) Breau and Timothy (Mary) Steeves; her seven
grandchildren, Alex, Evan, Adam, Dylan, Dawson, Kyle and
Mattea. She will be greatly missed by her younger brother,
Joseph Milton and was previously deceased by her older brother,
Merrill Milton.
Joan was the best wife, mother and grandmother we would ever
hope for. Her absence will cause a great void in all of our
hearts and she will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
The family wants to thank all the staff on 5100 for their exceptional
care of our cherished wife, mother and grandmother, our
«Joanie».
Due to the current Covid restrictions, the service will be
limited to the immediate family only. Burial will take place
at the Grey’s Island Cemetery. Her arrangements
are entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center,
330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007). Online condolences
may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
