Joan’s Obituary
It is with profound sadness we wish to announce the passing of Joan (Miller) Proulx-Batson on September 16, 2021 at the age of 77 at her home in Heart’s Delight, Newfoundland.
Joan has been predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Flora (Stickland) Miller; and husbands, Raymond Proulx and Donald Batson.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty (Kevin) Carmody and Jeanne (Mark) Symons; grandchildren, Katie Carmody, Andrew Symons, Shane Carmody, Evan Symons, and Hollie Symons; sister, Ethel Piercy-Mingledorff; stepchildren, Steve (Cheryl) Batson, Bill (Monica) Batson, Dianne (David) Leard, and Tom (Julie) Batson.
Joan was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland where she married Raymond Proulx and later settled in Latchford, ON in 1979. She worked at the Temiskaming Lodge in Haileybury, ON for 25 years where she had many fond memories of the residents, coworkers, and friends. Joan moved to Heart’s Delight, Newfoundland with her husband Donald Batson in 2007. It is here that Joan leaves many friends who were family in her eyes. She was a devout Christian not only in her own church, the Salvation Army TBS Corps, but also very active in multiple denominations. Joan will be remembered for her fondness of quilting and knitting but above all her generosity, kind heart, and her purple hair!
A celebration of Joan’s life will be announced at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo.
