Joan Priscilla
Churchill (nee Neily) – It is with sad hearts we share the news that
Joan suddenly passed away December 21 at the age of 83 in Wolfville,
NS.
She was born in her
family’s North Kingston house in 1938 at the foot of the
North Mountain. She was a good student at the local high school and
then Teachers College. She taught at Bridgetown and in British Guyana
before returning to Canada to become the Girls’ Work
Secretary of the Atlantic Baptist Convention. How she loved to work
with youth to share with them her Christian faith. In 1968, she
married her best friend – Rev. Dr. Keith Churchill – who was pastor of
Lancaster Baptist Church, Saint John, NB.
Shortly after, son
Jeff came along in 1970. After that were moves to various places due
to Keith’s work including FBC Lethbridge, WPGBC Vancouver
and Trinity BC Sherwood Park, Alberta. At each stop, Joan sang in the
choir, led Christian education work, was involved in Jeff’s
school and made countless new friends. Other jobs included school PTA,
moderator of the Port Williams United Baptist Church and vice
president of the Canadian Baptist Federation, senate member for the
University of Lethbridge, Western representative to Canadian Baptist
Ministries, Returns Officer with Elections Canada and Secretary to the
Alberta Area Minister. Keith and Joan retired in 2006 to Greenwich, NS
and were visited often by Jeff, Devony (wife) and two beloved
grandsons, Hayden and Callum.
She loved her church,
her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. She has
joined her beloved Keith and will continue their journey together in
the Great Reward.
Funeral – Sun Dec 26
at 1pm AT at the Port Williams United Baptist Church by invitation
only due to attendee restrictions. Please join the livestream from the

Williams United Baptist Church Garden Fund, Kingswood Camp or Doctors
Without Borders.
Funeral arrangements
have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville. In accordance with the Nova Scotia Proof of Full
Vaccination Policy, proof of full vaccination will be required to
attend visitations, services and receptions held in or by the White
Family Funeral Home.
