It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Elizabeth Gough announce her passing on July 24, 2021 at the age of 61 at the Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre, Bonavista, Newfoundland.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Mable Gough; sister, Lydia; and brothers: Lorne and Roger.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories: Husband, Donald Chaulk; Sons, David and Robert Reid; Grandchildren, Tyler, Jake, Tyson, Samantha, Ethan and Ava; Sister, Jean; Brothers, Roy, Walter, Calvin, Jim, Robert, John, Gordon. Also left to mourn are her many nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of friends.
Joan was born on February 6, 1960 in Elliston, Newfoundland. Her and her husband, Donald Chaulk, resided in Bonavista. Throughout her life Joan lived in Elliston and Bonavista for many years. After obtaining her BA, Joan returned to school and achieved her MA in Accounting and her teaching certificate. She proceeded to travel across the world and taught English in both Saudi Arabia and South Korea for nearly 10 years.
Joan was a force to be reckoned with whose laugh could be heard across a room; she was a powerful example of a woman with strength who would not take no for an answer. She was fierce and loved fiercely. Joan was a shining example that it was never to late to be who you were, do what you wanted, or love who you loved. And, she was loved and respected for it!
The Chaulk, Reid and Gough families would like to express gratitude to the many friends and extended family who have supported them through this journey. Calls, visits, prayers, messages, thoughtful gifts and kind words of support and encouragement have all been so much appreciated. A thank you to the doctors and staff at the Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre.
