Bertha Geraldine (Jean) Ingraham of Woodstock, NB passed away on January 5, 2021 at Carleton Manor in Woodstock, NB
Jean was born in Woodstock on January 9, 1925 to Guy and Stella Downey. She is survived by her son, Eric Ingraham. Two granddaughters Katie Daigle and Christy Canam (Glazier). Three great grandchildren, Kyle, Anna and Britton and sister-in-law Lillian (Ollie) Downey and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Clayton Downey (Elaine), Ivan Downey (Florence), Weldon Downey (Anne), Ronald Downey (Barb), Walter and a sister Erma (George) Hassell.
Jean was a stay at home mom who cared deeply for her family. She made each person that she welcomed into her home feel special. In her early years she worked in the office of General Dairies in Woodstock. In later years she was so proud of her volunteer work with the Saint John Ambulance. She joined March 16, 1980 and was part of the Saint John Ambulance for 12 years making numerous transport trips to Saint John and Halifax. She worked at the Save Easy and She worked in the constituency office for Fred McCain as well as Greg Thompson who was a member of parliament for the conservative party. She was a representative for Copper Craft for a number of years. She accumulated a great many picture puzzles which she would put together by the hour. She was so proud of her rose garden which was the envy to many. She got such great joy from her many close friends as well as young children and spent many evenings in her chair swing watching children playing in the ball field. She adored her son, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her eyes would light up being with them and was so proud of each one.
Special thanks to the staff at Carleton Manor and nurses of Upper Goodine Lane as well as home care support workers for Red Cross and private care workers for all their care and compassion. Also thanks to special friends Darren and Bonnie Stewart for love and support.
A private funeral service will be held at Scott’s Funeral Home. Rev. Leonard Cousins Officiating.
Internment will be held on Saturday May 22, 2021 at 11 am , at the Lower Brighton Cemetery.
Friends and family are welcome to attend.
If so desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Heart and Stroke Association and Home and School Association for Townsview School for student activities.
