After a long illness, Janine Alison Dekker, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Born and raised on a farm near Worthington, MN on September 26, 1963 to Len and Joan Dekker. Growing up, Janine was active in 4-H, music groups, and church programs as a youth. She graduated from Worthington Senior High School 1982. Janine received a BA in K-12 Music Education from Central College in Pella, IA in 1986. She was a cellist and taught middle/high school orchestra in Clinton, IA 1986-1998. Janine received an MDiv from Western Theological seminary in Holland, MI in 1993. She was a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Reformed Church in America and in the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Janine pastored at churches in Michigan, Arizona, Oklahoma and Ontario. She spent her free time taking care of her pets, taking pictures (photography), using her musical talents, hiking, camping, and watching baseball. Beloved daughter of Joan (Sheel) and the late Leonard Dekker. Loving sister of Peggy (Gary) Dekker, Karl (Cindy) Dekker, and Martha (Randy) Lubben. Fondly remembered by eleven nieces and nephews and twenty-two great nieces and nephews. Janine will be deeply missed by her many dear and close friends. A memorial service will be held at Laurel Lea St. Matthews Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Due to COVID restrictions, anyone who wishes to attend the memorial service must RSVP by contacting Rev. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Laurel Lea St. Matthews Presbyterian Church or a charity of choice (cheques mailed to the funeral home or made online, please).
