July 8, 1931 – January 2, 2021
Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. Jim was the beloved husband Louise (nee Hardy) for 66 years, before she departed this world for a better one in 2013. Dad to Paul, Jimmy, David, John, Daniel and Joseph (deceased May 2020). A family graveside will be held at Ebenezer Cemetery. Public services at a later time. A message from one of his grandsons:
My Grandpa Jim Stanley went to heaven last night. If people could find what grandpa found in life, they wouldn’t be bothered by much, even in a year like 2020. He had peace and joy and confidence because he wasn’t tethered to this sinking ship. I suspect he rode a trusty fishing boat to mercy’s shore and was never happier as he saw the person he had thought the most about (Jesus) inviting him to a breakfast campfire with fish and bread (John 21). We do have a legacy to continue. Not one that grandpa started but certainly one that he was a part of. As people ahead of us finish their race we gain more spiritual responsibility. People need to be told about true and sure peace and joy found in Jesus. Through all of life Grandpa was never alone. We need to help others find that friendship in Jesus. It seems appropriate to end with the same words that Grandpa ended every prayer with…”use us how You can and we will give You all the praise for what You do for us, and in us and to us and through us to the glory of God, AMEN!” (and pound the table like it was a pulpit for good measure)
