Elizabeth Jacqueline Anne Lamb (nee Harnum)
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jackie. She died peacefully at home with her family by her side on October 1, 2021. Predeceased by her mother: Phyllis Harnum (nee Dowden); father: E. John A. Harnum; brothers-in-law: Robert Reid, James Toussaint. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband; Rayner Lamb; sisters: Patricia Reid and Linda Toussaint; daughters: Sherry Bowering (Rex), Sharon Lamb (Ted), Wendy McClelland, Tracy O’Shea (Liam); grandchildren: Keri, Kris, Victoria, Jack, Max, Matt, Shalin.
Jackie was born and raised in St. John’s and attended Bishop Spencer School.
She attained her nurse training (RN) at the Montreal General Hospital (1961), before returning to St. John’s in 1963. She was highly regarded as a nurse in the emergency department of the Health Sciences Centre from 1977 till 1996, when she transferred to the outpatient department.
She completed the Meditech Electronic Charting Course in Boston (1996) and was subsequently involved in nursing education. She retired from nursing in 1999.
She took great pride in raising her four daughters and loved interacting with her seven grandchildren.
She spent 19 years after retirement wintering in Florida with her husband. She especially loved the yearly 5-day drive down the Eastern Seaboard to Florida.
She also enjoyed 22 consecutives Novembers out west exploring Alberta and British Columbia with her eldest daughter and family.
She spent many memorable days on the golf course with Rayner, Tracy and Liam. The rest of her leisure time was shared with family and a wide circle of friends, especially entertaining in her home.
She looked forward to sharing special occasions such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, and anniversaries. The daily 3:30pm happy hour became a special coming together to share thoughts and experiences, plans and ideas, with whomever cared to join. To Jackie, family and friends were her life.
Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday October 3, 2021 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service to follow on Monday October 4, 2021 at 11:00 am from the Barrett’s Chapel. The service will be live-streamed for those who wish to attend from the comfort of their home. The link will be provided on the main page of www.barretts.ca. Donations may be made in Jackie’s memory to the NL Cancer Society.
