Irma Yvonne Ryan Hiltz 19412021

Irma Yvonne (Ryan) Hiltz
1941-2021
Irma, our Mom, passed
away peacefully in the early hours of May 6, 2021 at Harbour View
Haven in Lunenburg after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She
is survived by her husband of 52 years, Blake Hiltz of New Ross; her
children, Judi-Lynn, Kenneth (Michelle), and Jocelyn (Anthony);
grandchildren, Nathaniel, Kendra, Lily and Storm; her sister, Donna
Kent of Stewiacke; several nieces, nephews and cousins. We were
blessed with an incredibly loving mother, and this extended into the
many years she also babysat and cared for many kids at the family
home, who are all considered part of our family, notably Kimberley,
Justin, Ashley and Robert. You all provided so much joy to our Mom and
all of us over the years.
Mom was known for her
homemade rolls, having baked thousands for community suppers or the
annual Harvest Sale at Ross Farm Museum. She also made Christmas
wreaths for several decades for the late Maurice Reeves and family.
However, Mom’s favourite roles of all were being a wife to
our Dad and being a Mom to us kids. She was a bit of a smart mouth,
yet she wondered over the years who her children got theirs from.
Growing up, Mom could be found cheering on our Dad in rec hockey or us
kids at our various events or celebrating our academic achievements;
she truly was our biggest fan. And, if you were looking for our Mom on
Christmas Eve, you would undoubtedly find her at the mall in New Minas
enjoying the chaos of last-minute Christmas shopping while singing
along with the Christmas carols. Though she had many hardships over
the years, Mom made sure that she was always there for us, our Dad and
those close to her.
The family would like to
thank all of the staff at Harbour View Haven (HVH) for their love and
support since March 17, 2017 when Mom first joined their care,
especially the team at Back Harbour Square. All of the team at HVH
treated us like family and we will be forever grateful to everyone
there for the great care they took of our Mom, and of our Dad in all
of his visits; and for being there for us and Mom through to her final
moments. We would also like to extend our thanks to our cousins Ruth
and Joan for staying with Mom whenever needed over the years, prior to
Mom going to HVH.
Mom was predeceased by
her parents, Thomas and Edna (Fleck) Ryan; siblings: Alma, Eva,
Hollis, Sherman, Donald, Ivan, Jean, Keenan, and Raymond; and parents
in-law, William and Lyda Hiltz.
Due to COVID-19
restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later
date. Donations in memory of Mom can be made to Harbour View
Haven’s family program and can be arranged by contacting
them directly (www.hvh.ca/contact).
Miss Me But Let Me
Go
When I come to the end
of the road
And the sun has set for
me
I want no rites in a gloom filled
room
Why cry for a soul set
free?
Miss me a little, but not for
long
And not with your head bowed
low
Remember the love that we once
shared
Miss me, but let me
go.
For this is a journey we all must
take
And each must go
alone.
It’s all part of the
master play
A step on the road to
home.
When you are lonely and sick at
heart
Go to the friends we
know.
Laugh at all the things we used
to do
Miss me, but let me
go.
