Ilda Carvalho
1933-2021
With great sadness, the family of
Ilda Carvalho mourn her passing at Grand River Hospital on April 9,
2021.
Beloved wife of the late Manuel
(2004), mother of Joe (Sarah) and Elisa. She will be missed terribly
by her source of pride and joy, her grandsons Jeremy and
Adam.
She
was predeceased by sisters Lourdes and Teresa (Luis), brother-in-law
Jose (Helen), sister-in-laws Eduina (Francisco), Celeste (Guilherme).
She is survived by sister Zelda (Jose), brother Angelo (Lillian),
brother-in-law Antonio (Maria) and sister-in-law Maria
(Wayne).
Born in Flores, Azores on November
7, 1933, Ilda came to Canada with her son in 1960 to join her husband
and create a new life for her family. The birth of her daughter Elisa
in Canada, completed their Canadian dream. It
wasn’t
always easy but with perseverance they they enjoyed a better
life.
She
loved taking care of her family and enjoyed any and all family
gatherings. Visitors to her home were always greeted warmly and with
offers of food, no one left her house
hungry.
Her
garden was a joy for her, especially her vegetable patch and
hydrangeas.
Many thanks to the staff at Hilltop
Manor and the brave nurses and doctors at both Cambridge Memorial
Hospital and Grand River Hospital for their excellent care. In lieu of
flowers a donation to the Heart and Stroke foundation would be
appreciated.
Due to COVID
protocols, a private service will be held at Parklawn Cemetery on
Tuesday April 13, 2021
