Hanson Gerald (Hanse) Smith
1934-2021
The death occurred peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of
the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Sunday February 28, 2021,with his
family by his side of Hanson Gerald (Hanse) Smith, of Alberton, age 86
years, Beloved husband to Myrtle Mary (nee Gallant) Smith. Born at
Northport, PEI, on April 20, 1934, he was the son of the late Brydon
and Leona (nee Kinch) Smith.
Dear father to Paula (David) Cahill of Alberton and Kathy
Pitre (Wayne Poirier) of Kinkora. Loving grandfather to Christopher
Cahill. Dear brother to Velda (late Wyman) Milligan of Alberton,
Francis (late Anna) Smith of Alberton and Bill Smith of Alberton. He
is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary (Don) Jones of
Piusville, Gladys (Mike) Spinn of Summerside, George (Velda) Gallant
of St. Louis, Phillip (Stella) Gallant of St. Louis, Ronnie (late
Lorna) Gallant of Waterford, Bobby Gallant of Summerside, Edna Gallant
of O’Leary, Leona Gallant of Alberton, and Irene Shea of Ontario. He
is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and
friends.
He was predeceased by brothers Erskine and Ivan and
by brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilbert Gallant, Harvey
Gallant, Fred Gallant, Elaine (late Ray) Cormier, Judy Gallant and
Kathleen (late Joseph) Bernard.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton. No
visitation by personal request. A Celebration of Life service to be
held at a date and time to be announced later.
Interment
will be in the church cemetery.As an expression of sympathy memorials
to the Western Hospital equipment fund would be gratefully
appreciated.
