It is with great sorrow and deep regret that we share the peaceful passing of Gordon Edward Graham Walker, September 24th, 2021 with family at his side. Eldest son of the late Charles and Norma Walker of Coniston. Survived by his younger brother Grant and his wife Wendy. Known simply as “Uncle” to his niece Taylor Lynne (Thomas) and nephew Nicholas. Predeceased by grandparents Andrew and Annie Walker of Coniston and Gordon Edward and Jewell Graham of Ottawa. Predeceased by all of his aunts and uncles, survived by numerous cousins. Predeceased by his loyal canine companions Flint and Buddy. Sadly missed by Casper.
Born Monday October 24th, 1960, he was a lifelong resident of Coniston. Never one for change, preferring the path well-travelled, he has lived in the same house as he was born for his entire life. Generous to a fault, he would do anything to help anyone, you knew that it was going to be an adventure when he showed up and announced his presence with “I’ll spare you all the details, just come with me.” He was true to his mantra – No better friend – No worse enemy. He was a lifelong and die-hard Chicago Black Hawks fan and a loyal Detroit Tiger fan. Always a defender of the underdog, sorry to say but he secretly cheered for the Soviets in ‘72.
You rarely had to ask his opinion on any topic, he simply gave it to you, often bluntly and without any political correctness. He spoke freely which we are grateful for. “Even if a million people like a “dumb idea”, it’s still a dumb idea.” Graham was extremely well read in world history and politics and could debate all that came forth and loved to be challenged by math. He excelled in recreating 3D art of WWII.
Never one for scholastics, despite his ability, he attended and successfully graduated from the School of Hard Knocks. Following in his father’s footsteps, he became a proud “tin knocker”. First working for the family business, Walker Vent-Air, then a long-time employee of Stainless Steel Technology and moved on to Lopes before settling to work for himself at WMW.
The family is eternally grateful and indebted to all of those who have contributed to getting Graham this far. There are far too many to mention here, but you all know who you are and that you graciously gave a “Herculean” effort. Cremation has taken place as per Graham’s wishes; as he said, “I might as well get used to the temperature.”
Memorial service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 at 2pm.
