Obituary of Gloria Joan Speichts
Gloria Joan Speichts, 76 of Digby, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2021 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Saulnierville, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Saulnier) Smith.
Gloria treasured her family and was very devoted to them. She was loved her children and grandchildren immensely, and adored her role of being “Nanny”. She had such a fun-loving personality that made others around her laugh. She kept her great sense of humour until the very end. Regardless of her declining health, Gloria remained strong.
She was an enormous source of strength for her family.
Gloria will be remembered by her son, Kenneth (Jennifer Macfie) Speichts, Stewiacke; daughters, Karen (Joe Wilson) Comeau, Eastern Passage; Kimberly (Andrew) Steeves, Digby; daughter-in-law, Barb Speichts, Bedford; grandchildren, Alan Comeau, Danielle Comeau, Connor Speichts, Jenna Speichts, Marcus Speichts, Kyle Marshall, and Anthony Marshall; step-grandchildren, Hannah Wilson and Amelia Steeves; great-grandchild, Lachlan Wallace; brothers, Fred Smith, Weymouth; Roy Smith, Calgary, AB; Jim Smith, Saulnierville; Ron Smith, Georgetown, ON; sisters, Donna Smith, Plympton Station; Shirley Melanson, Saulnierville Station; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Besides her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Fred Speichts; son, Kevin Speichts; brother, Leonard Smith; sisters, Alice Gennett and Linda MacNeill.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Sulis-Smith Extention Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation . Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
