Obituary of Glenn Gusdal
Glenn Gusdal
July 15, 1938 ~ March 11, 2021
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our great Patriarch, our father, grandfather, great grandfather Glenn Gusdal, who passed peacefully on March 11th, 2021 at the Hafford Special Care Facility.
Dad’s heart was in the far north where he started his family with mom. They lived in Churchill MB, then Lynn Lake, MB for a couple of years before settling in Uranium City where dad was a power engineer at the mine in Eldorado. After the mine closed, he bought an acreage at Christopher Lake, SK and eventually a lot at a seasonal trailer park in Candle Lake. Whether at the cabin at Milliken Lake or the camper at Candle lake, dad loved being outside especially if he was in a boat, fishing, golfing, or barbecuing. He grew beautiful gardens and took pride in his favorite Lilies.
Dad wasn’t a carpenter by trade, but he seemed to always be constructing something whether it was the boat, cabin, saunas, additions and even our own homes.
Dad enjoyed life fully. He listened to music as loud as mom would let him play it. He loved golfing, hockey, fishing, spending time with his grandkids, playing cards and many things that brought people together. He enjoyed being around people the most. He was always happy to share a meal with our friends and he enjoyed playing his prized Wurlitzer organ and singing for everyone who was there.
Dad was a proud and noble family man. He was a no nonsense and firm man and a people person who touched those who met him. He also had a great sense of fair play and humor.
When dad met Marie Hanotte in November 2018 his work changed for the better. She brought him joy and love. He was so grateful to have met her and been able to enjoy life with her talking, fishing and going to concerts.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at the Hafford Special Care Centre for being dad’s family when we could not in this last year.
Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife of almost 48 years, Florence, his parents, Gilbert and Agnes Gusdal, his father and mother in law Hnat and Helene Trohubiak.
He leaves to mourn his special companion Marie Hanotte, his children Catherine Burnett (Gerry), Kenneth (Cheryl) Gusdal, Warren (Bonnie) Gusdal and Wendy Gusdal (Glen Brassard), grandchildren: Sherri, Tim, Jeremy, Kendra, Tyler, Kalci, Cain (Emily) and Gerry, great-grandson James, sister Janice (Ben) Ward, sister-in-law Valerie (Percy) Cockerill and brother-in-law Ron (Jeannie) Trohubiak as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
An outdoor Celebration of Glenn’s life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
