Gerald’s Obituary
LEWIS, Gerald Francis – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband and father, Gerald F. Lewis (Aged 83) of Conception Harbour, who passed peacefully away in the presence of family at the Health Science Centre on June 3, 2021, following a short illness.
Gerald leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his devoted wife of 55 years Helen; his children David (Bonnie), Belinda (James) Walsh, Sherrylee (Stephen) Goulding, and Glenn (Amanda); his grandchildren Lacey McLaren (Rob), Mark Lewis (Danielle), Morgan and Mackenzie Walsh, Jazmin and Jensen Lewis; great-grandchildren Kayleigh McLaren, Mason and Blake Lewis. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews, family, and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents Moses and Catherine, parents-in-law James and Ellen Dalton, brothers Moses, Phillip, Thomas, Patrick, Dan; and sisters Margaret Lahey, Elizabeth Terry, Ann Ryan, and Bertha Furey.
Gerald was a proud Ironworker and long standing member of the Union Local 764, and had such a strong work ethic that he passed on to his children. He was a former Fire Chief of the Conception Harbour Volunteer Fire Department, had a soft spot for animals, bringing home many strays, loved the water, enjoyed bike trips and visits from family and friends, and took little encouragement to break into a rendition of «Molly Bawn». Gerald’s greatest joy in life was his grand and great-grandchildren, and he was always so proud of them and their accomplishments.
Special thank you to the Doctors and Nursing Staff of HSC, 4 South A, and his long-time family physician Dr. Paul Walsh.
