Georgette McCulloch (Stanko) passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband Ian and their five children by her side. She was 91.
Georgette and Ian married 64 years ago, just four months after meeting at the Embassy Hotel in Windsor. Liz (Ed Fernandez) was born 10 months later, followed by Jean (Lindsay Turriff), Mary Anne (Tim Mileham), Robert and Georgette (Jamie Jefferson). Five children in seven years. Her family was everything and Georgette dedicated her whole life to making sure her children lived a life of faith and love.
Georgette was a task master and believed that everything had to be done right the first time. A role model to her children, she set her expectations high and while growing up, insisted that we eat dinner together as a family every night, and as the years passed, always gather as a family for epic holiday celebrations. A talented cook and baker, Mom taught us that great food made from scratch with the best ingredients feeds the soul.
She loved her six grandchildren, Casey and Jenelle McCulloch , Kristina and Samantha Fernandez and Cooper and Jordi Jefferson. Their Baba was so proud of them and it brought her joy to see them happy, healthy and safe.
For years, Georgette canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society. Oh, and how she loved to play the slots, never revealing if she won or lost.
Georgette is survived by Ian, who hit the jackpot when he met her, and is grateful for the 64 incredible years they had together, her children, grandchildren and her beloved twin sister Anne Hodgins.
Predeceased by her mother and father, Susan and George Stanko, brothers George, John, Andy and Steven Stanko and her sister Mary Oneschuk.
The family would like to thank Father Greg for his guidance and support, nurses Kathy Morrison and Shari Molton from Paramed for their kindness and care, Dr. Jackie Van Der Eerden for taking care of Mom and The Hospice of Windsor for helping us nurse Mom at home. Thank you to all our family and friends for their love and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice of Windsor, Canadian Cancer Society or the Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
A private Funeral will be held at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church on Thursday. Burial to follow at Heavenly Rest
On Thursday, a livestream link of the Mass will be available on Georgette’s online profile at 1:30pm.
