Obituary of Frederick «Fred» Keirstead
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Frederick John Keirstead, beloved husband of Marilyn (nee Kyle), announces his passing on Monday, June 7, 2021, at Turnbull Nursing Home. Born in St. John’s, NL, on June 15, 1943, he was the son of the late Merritt and Mary Jane (Hussey) Keirstead.
Fred was a proud member of the ILA 273/PSJEA where he worked as a longshoreman.
Fred is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn; daughters: Margo Keirstead (Ria), Kathy Walton (Robert), and Joanne Beaulieu (Tom); grandchildren: Victoria (Chris), Christopher, Kara (George), Kyle (Emily), Matthew (Sarah), and Taylor (Jordan); as well as great-grandchildren: Owen, Charlotte, Remi, and Sebastian. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Karen.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB(634-7424). Visitation will occur on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, from 12PM to 2PM. Guests are asked to enter the building through the courtyard entrance, where staff will greet and assist you with COVID-19 protocol. The funeral service will be private. For those unable to attend the funeral, the service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by visiting Fred’s obituary on Brenan’s website.
