Obituary of Frances Hewitt
Frances Jane Hewitt passed away at home in, Lloydminster, Alberta, March 11, 2021 at the age of 82 years, with her family by her side.
She was the strongest and most steadfast woman that we knew and her fighting spirit and determination continued until the very end.
Frances leaves to mourn and cherish a lifetime of wonderful memories: her children, Barbara, Iris (Dave), Jerry, Maxine (Rex), Gary, Bill (Shellie), Lisa (Mason) and John (Paula); her grandchildren, Justin (Courtney), Crystal (Devin), Adam (Janice), Robyn (Wade), Amy (Paul), Nicole (Jenna), Taylor, Chris (Kim), Jennifer, Cody, Keenan, Kayla, Regina, Cokie, Aljay and Jjay; 15 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Loretta (Hubert), Marie, Jim, Ron (Betty) and Aidan (Susan); siblings-in-law, Catherina and Garry; as well as a large circle of family and friends.
She is predeceased by: her husband, William «Bill» Hewitt; parents, Martin & Irene Downey; siblings, Bess, Catherine, Hellen, Dan, Clarence and Gerald.
While she lived in Alberta in her later years to be closer to her children, her heart always remained in Newfoundland and Labrador. No conversation with her would be complete without hearing about her plans for her next trip home to Newfoundland. As she would remind us all by singing her favorite song, «down by the water is where I want to be».
In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place and her remains will be returned home to Baie Verte, Newfoundland to be laid to rest with Bill. A graveside service in Baie Verte will take place at a future date.
A memorial service will take place at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 1:45 PM. Due to the current restrictions, the service will be by invitation only. The service will be live streamed and posted on the McCaw Funeral Service website under Frances’ obituary at the time of service.
