Obituary
DYCK, Florence Cecilia (nee Bukowsky)
May 27, 1927 – August 30, 2021
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, who passed away peacefully and gently, but oh so suddenly, on August 30, 2021. Left to remember her and to continue loving her even in death are her children Mary Ann Simmons, Fred Dyck (Elise), Alesa Sutherland (Donald), Lorraine Chan (Brad Hunter), Dorothy Maruschak (Allan), Abie Dyck (Jacki) and Tillie Dyck (Alvin Toulejour), and her grandchildren: Jay Dyck (Rachel), Leilani “Loni” Klemecki (Shane), Leigh, Jaret (Maria) and Kelly Verreault, Allan “Ali” Maruschak, Wing Go Chan (Rachel), James Dyck (Rebecca); Sara Wilk (Adam), Kristina and Kelsey Dyck, Michaela Derow and Olivia Toulejour and numerous great-grandchildren. Mommy was predeceased by her loving husband, Abe, who died in 2003 and her special brother-in-law, Johnny Dyck. Mommy is the last to join her husband, her parents and her siblings in Heaven. Mommy was a working mother and worked alongside her husband, first owning and operating a hotel in Rosthern, SK and later, after her and daddy moved the family to Saskatoon, and together with some of their children, owning and operating a fresh produce and potato processing company, Saskatoon Fresh Pack Potatoes Ltd. Mommy was a very talented woman. She had a beautiful singing voice and was a very gifted artist, having painted murals on the walls of the Rosthern Hotel. She was a great gardener and especially loved to grow roses. She loved cooking and would pour over recipe books, always looking for a new recipe. Her meals were nothing less then magnificent, whether it was a Thanksgiving turkey, a Christmas roast beef, Easter ham or Sunday brunch. Any of her children would be hard pressed to say which was their favourite meal or dish, because they were all just that good. Mommy was a very loving mother, and we will miss her, each in our own way, but mostly we will miss hearing her say “Hello darling” or “Goodbye darling” and “I love you”, which she was quick to say to each of her children and grandchildren. There are so many things we can write about our mom, her beauty, her warm personality, her achievements, her loyalty, her love of family etc. but there is one thing that defined our mother more then anything and that was her devout faith and belief in her God and her religion. It was an essential part of every minute of every day of her entire life. Our family owes an incredible debt of gratitude to our sister Dorothy and her husband Allan for taking mommy into their home in 2009 and caring for her right up until the end. Dorothy included mommy so thoroughly into their lives. We will miss getting pictures from Dorothy showcasing mommy at the cabin at Wakaw Lake, or in Dorothy’s garden, or in a pretty new red blouse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Parish Centre, 3339 Centennial Drive, Saskatoon. The service will be recorded and uploaded a couple days later to: www.faithproductions.ca/livestream In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice. It’s a beautiful day
My heart is filled with joy
Come worship Jesus
Each girl and boy.
We are touched by his love
His blessings we share
He wants us in Heaven,
There is room for us there.
It’s a beautiful day
To love one another.
Each woman’s your sister,
Each man is your brother.
There can be peace on earth
And good will to all men
If we only forgive
And start loving again.
