Flora Bernice (Greene) Seamone – Age 94,
Bedford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at the QEII –
Halifax Infirmary. Born November 30, 1926 in Blomidon, she was a
daughter of the late Norris and Pearl (Winters) Greene. Mom grew up in
a humble farm household during the Great Depression. She had to move
from home at a young age for schooling and attended small country
schools in Kings County and later, Kings County Academy in Kentville.
During the war, she waitressed tables in Kentville to support herself
while attending high school and then worked in a car dealership, where
she procured a student loan to attend nursing school in Halifax,
graduating from the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing in
1948. She then went to work at the Dawson Memorial Hospital in
Bridgewater where she met her husband to be, Royce Seamone. After
having her first child in late 1950, she became a homemaker. A
wonderful cook and patient mother to her two sons, she was active with
friends and in the Bridgewater Baptist Church, being baptized there by
the Rev. Ronald Noble. As a church member, she enjoyed singing in the
choir and had a lovely singing voice. Upon Dad’s transfer to
Yarmouth, our family moved there for just over a year until another
transfer in 1963 took Mom to Kentville, back to her Valley roots. She
was extremely happy living there as she was close to her mother,
father and other family members. Mom was also active in the Kentville
Baptist Church for many years. In 2015, Mom moved to the Berkeley in
Bedford where she loved the staff, many of whom became friends.
Mom’s mind was sharp to the end, solving crossword puzzles
daily. When we played them with her, she would leave us in the dust
with her correct answers, amazing us. Mom loved flowers and the beauty
of nature. She was intrigued by animals and loved her several cats
over the years. She loved good food. She also loved good music
throughout her whole life. But most of all, she loved her sons, five
grandsons and four great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sons,
Gregory (Linda), Beaver Bank; and Christopher (Catherine), Terence
Bay; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Susan), Michael (Lindsay), Mark (Carlye),
Brenton (Ainsley) and Scott; and four great-grandchildren. She is also
survived by many nieces and nephews and was fond of them all. Mom was
predeceased by her husband Royce; brother, Bertram Greene; sisters,
Doris Haine and Joan Lunn. We, her family, would like to extend the
most sincere thanks to the staff at the Bedford Berkeley and the
medical and nursing staff at the Halifax Infirmary. Due to COVID-19, a
private invitation only service will be held in Kentville United
Baptist Church, Kentville, Reverend Doctor David Bielby officiating.
Interment will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the
IWK Health Centre.
