Obituary of Erwin Kowalla
KOWALLA – Erwin of St. Thomas passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on May 15, 2021. He was 69 years of age. Cherished and beloved husband for over 43 years to Lynn Kowalla (nee Marquis). A huge and painful loss to his only son Logan Kowalla of London. The youngest of three children he is sorely missed by his mother Helen Kowalla (nee Prishut). His father Peter Kowalla passed on many years ago but is always remembered. Of those closest relatives he is survived by one sister Monica Lewis and brother-in-law Ron Lewis, one brother Peter Kowalla and sister-in-law Mary Kowalla of Red Deer, Manitoba, Niece Julie Karathanassis (nee Lewis) and nephews Ron Lewis, Nathan Kowalla and Bobby Kowalla. Erwin is also survived by several “greats”, children, of Julie and Ron all living in the area. Erwin spent his entire working life in the service of St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital. He was a person who engendered trust on those around him, a gift he honoured and felt privileged to hold. Erwin has always had a special regard for animal welfare taking time out from whatever he was doing to help even God’s smallest of creatures. As such the family would appreciate that in lieu of flowers, any remembrances be made in the form of donations to your preferred animal rescue. Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment of ashes at a later date.
