Ernest Ervin Zinck
1938-2021
Ernest Ervin Zinck
passed away on September 2, 2021, at the Valley Regional Hospital.
Born on April 22, 1938, in Riverport, Nova Scotia, he was predeceased
by his father, Colin Odiah Zinck; mother, Helen Elfreda Crouse;
brother, Donald and infant brother Douglas. In 1958 Ernest received
his BScH degree in Chemistry from Acadia University and went on to
further studies at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. USA, where
he obtained his master’s degree and PhD in Chemistry. In
1963 he moved his family back to Wolfville to teach at Acadia
University, where he served terms as department head and Dean of
Science. His volunteer work with the Port Williams Volunteer Fire
Department, Centre Stage Theatre and online teaching were always
important to him. Ernest is survived by his wife of 61 years, Cherie;
sons, David and Andrew (Sandy); daughter Jane Berlemont;
grandchildren, Megan, Graeme, Emma, Brianna (Duane), Lauren (Nick),
Luke; and great-granddaughter, Harper. Cremation has taken place and a
private family celebration of life will happen at a later date.
Donations in memory can be made to the Port Williams Volunteer Fire
Department, Centre Stage Theatre, or a charity of your choice. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
