Elizabeth Irene «Bess» Greene
1935-2021
GREENE, Elizabeth Irene. Age 86, Mahone Bay, NS.
Born to Jessie (Gillis) and John A. Beaton, March 27, 1935, in New
Waterford, NS.
She played basketball for St. Agnes High and later played for the
ladies senior team. She passed her love of sport to her son and
granddaughter. Bess worked ten years for Schwartz and Co., New
Waterford, in sales and modelled ladies clothing on CJOH TV and in
fashion shows. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She
adored her grandchildren, often sending them a little something in the
mail.
Bess is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick” Greene;
sister, Adeline Landry, Halifax; daughter, Suzanne Grant (Andy),
Oakville, ON; son, Trevor (Debbie), Nanaimo, B.C.; grandchildren,
Matthew Grant (Tynan), Kelowna, B.C.; Brayden Grant (Kendra), London,
ON; Grace E. Greene and Noah C. Greene, Nanaimo, B.C.. Also surviving
are many nieces and nephews in Cape Breton, mainland Nova Scotia, New
Brunswick, Ontario, Alberta and western United States.
There is no service or visitation.
A memorial is planned for summer 2022 in Cape Breton.
