Betty (Ann Elizabeth Fodey) McKinnon, left this world, in her 94th year with family at her side on May 28, 2021. Betty lived a full life as wife to Peter, devoted mother of six, grandmother of six, great-grandmother of five and guardian of countless pets.
Betty was best known for her warm smile, infectious sense of humour and kind nature. She was a dedicated teacher (St. Francis Xavier), always advocating for the underdog and those with special needs. She was a devout member of St Francis Xavier Church and an avid volunteer in the community, even at an advanced age.
Betty loved having friends and family by the pool and hosting informal gatherings for laughs and card games. Her door was always open, all were welcome. She kept busy, always giving of herself to others. Her selflessness and sense of fun will continue to guide us.
Forever in our hearts she will remain.
Her loving children: Ron, Deb, (Al), Maureen (Tim), Kate, Laura, (Dennis), Paul and little John who has been waiting for her in heaven.
Grandchildren, in whom she took enormous pride: Eva (Jeremy), Joe (Adam), Scott (Nicola), Samantha (James), Max and Simon
Great grandchildren, she longed to know: Morley, Violet, Evelyn, Juliet and Elliott
Predeceased by her devoted husband Peter and spirited sons-in law Randy and Jean-Pierre.
Betty’s family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care, support and friendship Mom received in her last home – St Lawrence Lodge. She shared many laughs with the staff who took the time to find the meaning in her sarcastic nature. With their personal attention, she thrived. The family is deeply indebted to Donna, her personal caregiver and newfound friend who always brought out the best in Betty. Also, a heartfelt thanks to Leslie, Lisa, Nicola, Shelley and so many others who should be acknowledged.
Visitation will take place at the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
