Elizabeth Mary Surette better known as “Betty” or “Nanie Freezie” to most of Lower Eel Brook, residing at Villa St Joseph du lac, left us to be reunited with her husband after 34 years on Sept 4, 2021 at the beautiful age of 91 with her family she loved so dearly by her side.
She is the daughter of the late Maxwell and Dorothy Grant. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Gilbert Surette and brother Charles Grant.
She will be forever missed by her children Debbie (Dave) Smith, Johnny (Denise) Surette. Grand Children whom she cherished beyond words Alicia (Mark) Amirault, Darrell (Cindy Jacquard) Nickerson, Step grandchildren Colby (Amber Bell) Grant, Christian (Arielle) Grant and her great grandchildren who kept her smiling and scowling Chase, Drew, Spencer and Bentley.
She spent countless hours cooking, cleaning, reading, watching movies and knitting. It was known not to interrupt her while watching Dr. Pimple Popper, Deadliest Catch and Wicked Tuna. Because of her huge heart, her house was home to many with endless family gatherings, full bellies and a race to the kitchen cot.
Describing her is easy, she was our greatest blessing and simply, “The Best”.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation to be held Friday, Sept 10, 2021 at Sweeny’s Funeral Home from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with a graveside service at a later date. Donations can be made in her memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation or VON.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Villa who created a family like bond and made her feel so special…you know who you are.
