Emmons, Elinor Frances (nee Penwarden) December 31, 1924 – May 2, 2021
Passed away peacefully at Woodlands of Sunset Retirement Home on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the age of 96. Beloved wife of 73 years to John Emmons.
Loving mother of David Emmons (Lyn), Daniel Emmons (Sharon) and Reta Lilley (Bill).
Cherished grandmother of Timothy Emmons (Jennifer), Karen Emmons, Joshua Lilley (Sara) and Mathew Lilley (Jayme).
Dear sister-in-law of Virginia Penwarden, Joan Emmons, Jim Wilson and Norm Emmons.
Predeceased by sisters Ruth Brettel (Harry), Elma Hesler (Richard), Norma Wilson and brothers Doug Penwarden and Bruce Penwarden (Joan), sisters-in-law Heather Emmons, Rosemary Emmons and brother-in-law Marshall Emmons.
Also predeceased by her granddaughter Holly.
Elinor will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, her church family and numerous friends.
Elinor spent over 50 years working alongside her husband and her family at Barron’s Flowers in Fonthill. Elinor was a long time and faithful member of
Kirk-on-the-Hill Presbyterian Church in Fonthill and The Order of the Eastern Star. She was also an avid curler at the Welland Curling Club. She was always interested in the activities of her grandchildren and her 7 great grandchildren.
A private visitation and service will be held for close friends. Those that wish to watch the funeral via live stream may do so by going to the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME Facebook page on Thursday, May 6th at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow at Fonthill Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at
Woodlands of Sunset for the respect, compassion and care they provided to our mother.
