Ristau, Elfriede Erika
Elfriede (nee Tolks) passed away quietly after a brief but difficult illness at Lisaard House in Cambridge on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the age of 90. Elfriede loved to knit, cook and bake. We have many of her knitted sweaters, pullovers, mittens and slippers. We will always remember her Sunday dinners with coffee and cake. Elfriede also enjoyed gardening, reading and various needlecrafts. She was a long-time member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and was active on the Ladies’ Committee. She frequently donated blood and reached the 100 donation milestone.
Elfriede was the loving wife of Oskar Reinhold Ristau (predeceased Dec. 2020), mother of Ruth Ristau (predeceased Jan. 2021) and Gertrud Morell, Oma to Kim Morell (Travis Southern) and Sylvia Morell (Zac Drennan), and Ur-Oma to Maverick Southern. She is survived by brothers Kurt and Gerhart Tolks, sister Charlotte Frost and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at the Henry Walser Funeral Home (519) 749-8467. Extended family and friends may view Elfriede’s service on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. via the following livestream link:
