Obituary of Eleanor Jean (Roberts) Benson
Passed away ever so peacefully on December 30, 2020, Eleanor Jean (Roberts) Benson, at the Continuing Care Centre in the Northern Lights Regional Health Care Centre in Fort McMurray, Alberta, With both of her beloved Son’s at her side. Jean was a gentle, kind and giving person. She opened her home and her heart for many people through her 86 years. She always had cookies on the table and a bed for those visiting the hospital that was near their home in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and took care of her beloved husband Roy right up until his passing. She moved to Alberta to be closer to her sons and grandsons in her final years. She is preceded by her Husband Roy, her beautiful daughter Carol. Her Parents William and Marjorie Roberts of Twillingate, NL. Brother’s Owen and Harry and Sister Bernice. She will be forever loved and missed by her Son’s, John (Pauline) and Paul (Connie). Grandson’s Andrew, Bradley and Brady. Grand Daughters Carolyn and Amy, Great Grand Daughter’s Hannah, Autumn and Amber. Special Family friends Pastor Robert and Majorie Hamlyn, Melvina Thorne, Irene and Raymond Pitcher, Bev and Harold Rose, Lou Dooley, Terry Brown, and special Niece Judy Marshall who were there for her before she moved to be with her sons in Fort McMurray. Her Neighbours and lifelong friends Prudy and Derrick Thorne.
Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the wonderful residents and staff at the Continuing Care Centre in the Northern Lights Regional Health Care Centre in Fort McMurray, AB. Your dedication and care to those who live on this ward is amazing. Special thanks to Dr. O’Connor who has been with the family from the first day of Jean’s admittance and shown such care and empathy to both Jean and her family. And to George, whose mom is a resident, for always visiting Mom and praying with her and for being there for us in the end to help us through. The kindness she has shown others all through her lifetime came back in spades with the wonderful people who helped her in her time of need. Live by her example, “ In a world where you can be anything…… Be Kind”.
