Edgar Auffrey
1940 ~ 2021
Moncton, NB – Edgar Auffrey, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 11, 2021 with his family by his side, after a courageous brief battle with cancer.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Philippe and the late Celina Auffrey (Bourque).
Edgar worked for Atlantic Wholesalers for 41 years until his retirement in 2000. He began working at an early age starting out as a grocery clerk and with hard dedicated work, he became Manager of several stores. After retirement he continued to work with the company for an additional 15 years because he loved the interaction with his customers so much.
Known to baseball fans as “Little Ed”, he had a passion for the game of baseball from a young age. He was renowned for his pitching and played on several teams including Moncton Junior Keefes, the Moncton Aces and the Memramcook Rovers, in which he was an inductee into the Moncton Sports Wall of Fame in 2012.
Edgar coached minor league hockey for the Lewisville Minor Hockey Association and was proudly one of the founding members of the Moncton Slowpokes Hockey Club.
His hobbies included fishing and hunting at his camp, golf and especially spending time with his family and friends.
Edgar is survived by his loving wife and one true love, Cindy Cormier; proud father to: Patricia Auffrey-Jarvis (Floyd) of Windson, NS, Daryll Auffrey (Renne) of Dartmouth, NS and Stephanie Boucher (Chris) of Moncton; loving grandfather to: Connor, Paige, Jacob, Julien, Cole and Jake; dedicated brother to : Paul Auffrey (Jeannine); three brothers-in-law: Herb Geldart, Robert Geldart (Barb), Brian Geldart; seven sisters-in-law: Annette Auffrey, Yvonne Auffrey, Joan Geldart, Patsy Geldart, Hilda Mujoomdar (Arvind) and Debbie LeBlanc; as well as many treasured nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers: Roger, Robert and Arthur; his parents-in-law: Max and Mabel Geldart; his sister-in-law: Ruth Degan and Penny Geldart; his brother-in-law: Ron Geldart.
