Obituary for
Dr. Lev «Larry» Borys
1938 – 2021
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Lev “Larry” Borys on January 4, 2021, at the age of 82 years.
His memory will be forever cherished by his sister, Deanna (Roman) Lopushinsky; two nephews, Greg (Michelle) Lopushinsky and their two sons, Zachary and Ethan, whom Lev adored and Jason Lopushinsky; and numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Helen (nee Kuhn) Borys; and sister, Lorraine. Lev was born and raised on a farm near Calmar. He attended Halicz and Calmar School. After graduating from high school he entered the University of Alberta in the faculty of Pharmacy. After two years, he decided to enter the U of A Faculty of Medicine to become a radiologist. He also trained in London, ON and Detroit, MI. After returning to Edmonton, he purchased his own office, North Town X-Ray. Lev was proud that he practiced for 50 years before retiring.
Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday, January 10 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to register at bit.ly/larryborys.
Funeral Service Monday, January 11 at 10:00 a.m. with Very Reverend Igor Kisil officiating and interment in St. Barbara’s Cemetery, Nisku.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, attendance is limited. The service may be viewed via live-stream through Lev’s Book of Memories at www.parkmemorial.com. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to St. Barbara’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 10105 – 96 Street, Edmonton, AB T5H 2G3.
