Obituary of Doreen Laurie MacFarlane
Passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side, at the age of 58, she was our earth angel. Doreen is survived by her father, Don MacFarlane and special mother, Mary. Loving and adored mother of Jason Goyer (Dana) and Andrew Gaudreault (Sarah). Special mother of Krystal (Escobar) and Claudio. Grandmother of Damon and Brielle. Loved and amazing sister of Debbie Sawatzky (Kenny), Kym Aiekenhead (Rory) and Donald MacFarlane Jr. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Doreen cared for and touched the hearts of everyone that knew her. She was a professor at Sault College where she took great pride in her work as an Esthetician and as a mentor to her students. Her passion was music and dancing and now she is dancing with the angels, free from pain. Doreen fought cancer for 12 years. She has many friends that will miss her, including her best friend Brenda Haché and her fur baby, Chloey. In keeping with Doreen’s wishes, there will be no services held. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. A special thank you to Dr. Booth, Dr. Carlson, Dr. Moore, the radiation team at the SAH and Donna Ray, who was Doreen’s great nurse from ParaMed. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
When tomorrow starts without me,
please try to understand, that an angel,
came and called my name, and took me by the hand,
the angel said my place was ready in heaven far above,
and that I had to leave behind all those I dearly love
but when I walked through heaven’s gate, I felt so much at home,
for God looked down on me, smiled and said “welcome home”
so when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart,
for every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.
