Miles, Donald Paul
Age 68, of Cow Bay, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at home surrounded by family. Son of the late Donald and Kathleen (MacDonald) Miles. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia (MacIntyre); daughters, Kathleen (Jeremy) Finlay, Alexandria (Michael) Horne; granddaughter, Maeve Finlay; sisters Debra (Mark) Howard, Patricia (John) Fraser, Kelly Miles; and nieces and nephews and other family as well as his family by choice. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Brenda Baltzer.
Paul had a proud and passionate life. He join the RCAF at the age of 19 and devoted 35 years before retiring as a Master Warrant Officer. His passions of travel and scuba diving were shared with family and friends. As a NAUI dive instructor, past president of the flying frogmen scuba club, the Shearwater scuba club, as well as the Nova Scotia underwater council, he imparted knowledge and the love of the sport to many. His love of diving brought with it adventure, as he traveled to many locations, including to the favoured locale of Truk lagoon. This special place was shared with his best friend, Val Cummins, Greg Lockwood, Sue Menard, and his long time dive partner and wife Pat. One of his last dives was a 60th birthday dive in the large aquarium at Walt Disney World.
All thing Disney were shared with his daughters including movie nights, singing Disney tunes, and multiple special trips to Disney World. His recent joy in life was his granddaughter, Maeve. He enjoyed holding her while they watched cartoons together or marveling at her latest antics. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
