Donald’s Obituary
TRENTON – Donald James “Don” Smith, 48, Trenton, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 peacefully in his sleep.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Donald Scott Smith, Stellarton and the late Susan Elaine (Roy) Smith. Don was a computer programmer and had been employed with the former Convergy’s and JDS Fitel in British Columbia and Ottawa, Ont. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Don was a “die hard” Green Bay Packers and Boston Bruins fan. Above all, he dearly loved his children and spending time with them. Don possessed a “heart of gold”, quick wit and impressive creativity. “Where there is a will, there is a way.”
Surviving besides his father, Donald, are wife, Janice (Bain) Smith; children, Damien (Bailey), Danten (Ceci), Baylee and Nathan; granddaughter, Everleigh; brothers, George (Pam) Smith, New Glasgow; Ronald “Ron” Smith, Thorburn; sister, Sylvia Allen (Dale Greene), New Glasgow; biological father, Ronald Burns; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; paternal grandmother, Margie Smith; step mother-in-law, Shirley Bain; in-laws, Beverly (Gary), Sheila (Alex), Barb, Danny and Lisa (Keith);
Besides his mother, he was predeceased by a brother, Patrick in infancy; maternal grandparents, Vernon and Jessie (MacInnis) Roy; paternal grandfather, Ron Smith; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Muriel (Fraser) Bain; brother-in-law, Norman.
In keeping with Don’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
